Value & Risk offers investment bank front office know-how in evaluating complex, illiquid financial instruments, financial engineering service and risk consulting. We supply all of these with high-quality valuations of all asset classes and complexity levels.

All at the same time, Value & Risk meets the regulatory and internal transparency requirements in accordance with the International Standard on Assurance Engagements No. 3402, Type II. Furthermore, experienced financial experts are available for further questions at any time.

Founded in 1996 in Frankfurt am Main, Value & Risk since developed into the leading provider of independent valuations of financial products in Germany and into one of the market leaders in this sector in Europe.

To Value & Risk, personal contact and close relations are the foundation of any trusting partnership. We run our operating business from the Opernturm in Frankfurt am Main, a city in the heart of Europe and one of the world’s most important financial centers. Our team is on site at all hours and lends assistance to our customers in a friendly, solution-oriented and efficient manner of highest “Made in Germany”-quality.

Over the course of the two decades since the company was founded, we managed to reach a probably unmatched level of quality. Our employees are proven experts in their field of activity and are always up to date thanks to constant exchange with other experts as well as trainings. What is more, all important steps of our valuation process, such as processing market data and creating reports, are subject to not only a number of automated quality controls but also the four-eyes control principle.

Chief Executive Officer

Mr. Gil Bender is CEO and a member of the management board since 2009. Mr. Bender is in charge of executive management as well as the operating valuation business. He holds a BBA in finances and an MBA in strategic management.

Mr. Bender has more than 20 years on experience as a specialist in evaluating complex and structured products as well as realizing highly complex projects. Prior to his work at Value & Risk he worked in financial engineering, structuring, trading, and risk management with leading German and international banks and consulting companies.

Managing Director

Mr. Dr. Karsten Wohlenberg is the founder of Value & Risk and member of the management board since 1996.

His competence comprises the strategic development of the consulting business of Value & Risk. Before his days at Value & Risk, Dr. Wohlenberg was head of risk controlling and derivative trade at Dresdner Bank.

Mr. Jens-Peter Jäger is the Chief Analyst at Value & Risk since 2010. Prior to that he held various positions in investment banking for more than 25 years, in the end that of bank director and head of fixed income, equity and credit trading. Additionally, Mr. Jäger works as a lecturer at the FOM University of Applied Sciences for Economics and Management, and as a publicly appointed and sworn judicial assessor for bonds and derivates.

Value & Risk currently has the probably biggest team of experts on valuation services in Europe. Our approx. 25 specialists in Frankfurt (Opernturm) are highly qualified financial experts with academic degrees and many years of experience in trading, treasury or risk controlling. By means of continuous trainings and individual specializations on particular subject areas, we ensure that customers, auditors and supervisory authorities will always find a renowned expert as a competent point of contact in us.

DR. TOM CHRISTIANSEN

Dipl. Math., Chief Quant

Dr. Tom Christiansen is the Chief Quant of Value & Risk since 2012. He is responsible for the development and implementation of quantitative valuations as well as the company’s software development. After graduating his PhD in stochastic analysis at the University of Bonn, Dr. Christiansen worked for several years as a Quantitative Analyst (Front Office) for German and international investment banks before joining Value & Risk in 2012.

MARINA BECKER

Dipl. Financial Mathematician, Head of Operations Group

Marina Becker has joined Value & Risk in 2007 working as a financial engineer. Since 2009, Mrs. Becker is head of operations and oversees the operational side of the daily valuation processes as well as the customer support. She holds a Masters in financial mathematics and is experienced in both the quantitative field and financial engineering.
